Louvers stick, emits old refrigerator odor

Pros:  remote control, energy saver, 4 settings, 3 speeds

Cons:  heavy, louvers don't work, loud control panel beeps, lint filter is so-so First of all, I want to say I googled the heck out of this item and found no reviews.

Because its promotional tag line states that it helps to reduce allergens and pollutants, I purchased it for my children's bedroom.

Two days after installation, the airflow louvers no longer open automatically. They stick and I have to manually push them open.
The a/c emits a light 'old refridgerator' odor.
Quiet Mode is spelled "QUEIT" on the remote control (minor issue I guess).
Control panel beeps loudly with setting changes, even in Quiet Mode.
Lint screen looks like any other a/c lint screen. It could not possibly filter out problematic microns.

This item relies on the UV light to support its claim for reducing odors and allergens. This would work for airborne bacteria and mold, but certainly not for dust and particulates.
But if I had airborne bacteria and mold problems, I wouldn't be relying on a seasonally used air conditioner to tackle the problem so it seems rather pointless in the end.

If you suffer from allergies to dust and particulats, get a HEPA filtered device instead (like vacuum cleaner or air filter). And save yourself about $125 by purchasing a regular room a/c.
