texture not the same as commercial soft serve We had fun playing with this unit Christmas 06. Made some good tasiting frozen yogurt. Although this unit never seemed to get the ice cream firm enough to pile up on a cone. But At only $100, it was a good price for this unit. Dont expect to get the commercial grade soft serve you get at nation wide chains. You need a unit that has freezing capability for that. This unit has a drum which must be placed in freezer for 24 hours prior to making ice cream. Making ice cream will not be a last minute decision with this technology. You must have the drum in freezer at least one day in advance of making ice cream. Of course machines that have their own freezing units are much more expesnive. I have seen table top units that range from $600 on up. Im not saying dont get it. Just know that at $100, your are not going to get the commercial grade soft serve.

Many different kinds of ice cream to make in your home |

Doesn't make enough servings Great tool to have in the kitchen. I've made several kinds of ice cream and yogurt. I have a family of 5. They love to use it, but it just doesn' make enough. To have plenty, you need to purchase a 2nd mixing bowl.

The gadgets don't work right. I wish we had bought an ice cream maker without the "soft serve" addition. We can't seem to get the consistency just right to allow us to dispense the ice cream and sprinkles into a cone.
