Pros:
Convection / microwave - wonderful combo |
Cons:
Bad workmanship - zero support - known defects I want a quality product that has this features! The features are wonderful. But, every web page with ratings show that it is an unsupported, mis-documented, Korean manufactured GE (Sears) pile of junk that will be filling your landfill in one to 4 years. I am searching for a Thermister (like many others) that the GE Authorized repair shop does not carry. A $0.22 part (that one GE repair center on the web wanted $203.00 to fix) after just 2 years. Many complaints that those with 3 year warranties never ever had it working 6 months in a row - then the repair contract leaves them with an unworking unit. Site after site, review after review shows overwhelming evidence that GE and SEARS know this is junk... real junk; but do nothing about it. I want the features! When mine worked for 3 years and 1 month - it was wonderful. The documentation inside it is not even correct. Looking at the solder connections in side the heated oven - it appears that they used Lead. From some reviewer's comments, I am gussing that the Lead solder joints right up against the oven (it is a full convection oven) are causing problems if they don't use an external vent. The handle interlock is the other bad documented issue - this can leak microwave into the user's face. Nothing good to say... except for the features.

everything else my light bulb burned out after 6 months. replacing it is basically an expensive racket to get you to keep paying for this until you junk it. the door is rickety, the fan is very, very loud, and it's impossible to service yourself. save your money and buy a $150 no-name brand

Pros:
cooks as advertised |
| Cons:
Interior light bulb The interior light bulb on this appliance, you know the light that comes on when you open the door, or to watch your food cook, is only replaceable by a service technician at the cost of 167.00( after 1st year) to replace a $4 halogen light bulb. My oven is 2 years and 5 months, and I am on its third light bulb. What was GE thinking when they made an every day halogen bulb replaceable by a liscensed service Tech only. Away to rip of its consumers? If I had been aware of this bulb issue I would never of purchased this GE Advantium 120. Service center told me on the day of the service to call back the next day(today) and they would refund the labor charges, well of course today there is no record of yesterdays call and no they won't refund the labor charges. That's alot of money to replace an everyday appliance light bulb.
