Pros:  lightweight, long battery life (8 cell)

Cons:  cd/dvd only with expensive dock I've been using my new X61 for about a week, and it simply is the best laptop that I've ever bought. I've had three Thinkpads (A22m, G40, and now this) and I think they represent the best value and quality.

The X61 is super lightweight, and has an amazing battery life with the optional 8 cell battery. I use mine to teach, and it lasts the entire school day. (8 hours off and on)

While Thinkpads can be expensive, if you choose the right time to buy, you can get one pretty cheap. Mine had an MSRP of over $1800 with the optional dock, and I got it for $1100 during their anniversary sale.

Speaking of the optional dock... this is really the only negative that I can think of. To make the X61 so light, they did not include an on-board CD/DVD ROM drive. If you need this, you have two choices, buy an external drive, or pony up an extra bunch of money for the optional Lenovo dock. ($150-200, depending on what kind of deal you can get.)

Other than the lack of an on-board CD/DVD, I'm extremely happy with the X61. It's pretty quick, has a pretty good screen. (Some people complain about it being small, but after a day or two you get used to it.)

If you are looking for an ultra-portable laptop that is reliable and has an extremely long battery life, consider the X61.
