Product Description
Upscale video without an upscale price. The AVR 247 is company's most affordable receiver that allows you to upscale incoming analog video signals to high-resolution 720p output or select two HDMI inputs for audio processing, all with a Simplay HD-verified, single-wire connection to an HDMI-equipped display. And the sound? Pure Harman Kardon audio, with the clarity possible only with EzSet/EQ technology and the high-current, ultrawide-bandwidth amplifier design.

| Cons:
no 1080p support through HDMI with a device that uses component (xbox 360) I work for best buy as a home theater installer and every HK receiver i hook up always sounds excellent, The HK AVR-247 is no exception. hook up is easy and user friendly. You don't have to have a degree to get it all wired up. First thing that you may notice is the HDMI ins and outs, this is a great way to simplify your connections and minimize the wires going to the T.V. You can plug any type of connection (composite, component, s-video, etc) and have it upscaled to glorious 720p via an HDMI from the receiver to the T.V. This is great for folks like myself who only have a standard progressive scan DVD player, because it turns your player in to a up-conversion dvd player with out shelling out extra buck for a new unit. The AVR -247 also goes a step futher by including a set up mic to calculate the acoustics and shape of your room, no need for any measuring utensils or fancy devices...the AVR-247 has you covered. The AVR-247also has connectivity for i-POD users. The HK i-POD dock is sold separately, but I own a ZUNE so my dock goes with any AV receiver. The OSD (on screen Display) is also helpful because you can tweek settings with out squinting at the small letters on the face of the receiver. On the negative side the upscaling will only do 720p or 480p no 1080p upscaling. For the $499 price tag this by far is one if not the best mid-range receiver out right now.
