Olympus Stylus 770 SW Digital Camera

Product Description

Olympus Stylus 770 SW is the world's most durable digital camera. You can drop it (from 5ft), dunk it (to 33ft), freeze it (-10°C/14°F) or even try to crush it (up to 220lbf), and it will still take amazing photos. But the 770 SW isn't all brawn and no brains. It features a bright 2.5" Hypercrystal LCD so you can easily compose, view and share your images underwater or in direct sunlight. Digital Image Stabilization (DIS) creates sharp, blur-free pictures, even if your subject is moving. And the 27 Shooting Modes, including movie with sound, allow you to master any shooting situation.

Pros:  drop-proof, waterproof, crushproof, freezeproof... great for an active lifestyle

Cons:  writing full quality pictures takes some time to write to the XD card This camera's awesome features came into full use yesterday. I was getting into my girlfriends SUV and the camera fell out of my pocket about 2-3 feet and into a puddle of water. Any other digi cam would have been destroyed but this was unphased.

Its a great camera, only drawback is the slow write speed if you are taking full quality pictures... but I'm not making posters so I turn it down and its perfectly fast. It also has a "select-a-shot" feature that takes 10 simultaneous pictures and you pick the ones you like. I have some SICK action shots using that feature. Overall, this camera fits my life as an avid skateboarder, snowboarder, freediver, spearfisherman. Its a little more on the heavy side but is still quite small.

Its already been worth the cost... Like I said if I had any other camera it would be broken by now.

Pros:  compact, stylish, waterproof, shockproof, user-friendly

Cons:  battery life and memory I bought this as a father's day present last year and I was sold on the fact that it was able to go underwater up to ten feet without a case. I've taken so many underwater pictures and video's and loved the quality of it! My kids are in competitive swimming and taking videos underwater was a great training tool to show them what they can do to improve. If you were to purchase and develop 24 underwater disposable camera then you might as well invest in this. Besides the underwater feature, I'm a total clutz and am forever dropping (expensive) things like our old video camera and phones! I've dropped this so often and it only has tiny tiny scratches to show for it. Olympus has always been the brand for us as far as quality for the price. The only thing I have to say about the 770 SW is that you have to buy more memory otherwise you will get stuck with a lower resolution and that can take away from the picture. You also want to invest in an extra battery, just because if you are out all day with the camera, by the end of the day you'll probably need it. But that's all fixable, as long as you buy the extra memory (suggest no smaller than 1G) and an extra battery you'll be set! I LOVE MY CAMERA, I've taken so many videos with it that my video camera is collecting dust. This is easy to use, and downloading isn't hard at all. Not to mention the different photo qualities that it has programned in it. I can't express enough how much I love this camera. It's captured so many of our fondes memories in the year that we've had it.

Pros:  Camera for active people

Cons:  heft I'm an avid fisherman, snowboarder, and backpacker. I had T series Sony which was really nice, but I broke it snowboarding. The 770 SW has allowed me to take pictures in every enviroment I'm in without having to worry about the camera. I'm able to take pictures of the fish I catch underwater; How cool is that! I don't have worry about the screen cracking like I did on T series. I'm taking more pictures now because of this. The picture quality is fair to good. The Sony had noticably better pictures, little easier to use, and slightly faster, but hey, I can't take pictures with broken camera. IMHO, this is best camera for people active in the outdoors. Its compact, water resistant, tough(impact resistant), and takes decent pictures. You may want to look at other cameras, if your not an outdoor nut like me.

Pros:  you can't drown it

Cons:  little pricey i ride a bike could never take a camera along for fear of getting caught in a florida downpour this thing is great and for less than a hundred dollars you can get another battery pack and a 2G memory card thats over 1100 pics with my first charge i took over80 pics with flash and still had battery left wish they had come out with this sooner

Pros:  None

Cons:  useless and fake features The second time I used the Olympus sw770 underwater it flooded and doesn't work anymore. Lost $400. DO NOT RISK. The are better cameras with better value in the market. By wise and do not be seduce with the features like I did. :-(

Pros:  Super strength, underwater abilites and slick look.

Cons:  mode changes everytime you turn off. I bought before I went on a trip to Costa Rica it was perfect. It was the rainy season so lots of water. I was able to bring out the camera on all occasions including surfing. The only cons I noticed is when you turn off the camera it doesnt go back to the mode that you were shooting before you turned it off. I'm not sure if you can change this or not. The other problem is the view finder or should a say lack of one. It is somewhat difficult to take shots on a really sunny day. You just have to guess what you are shooting.

Pros:  good pictures when it works

Cons:  if it breaks your screwed The camera worked nice when it worked. i took it on vacation and half way through it it stopped working. it must of leaked in the water. the first pictures in and under water were nice. i sent it back to Olympus to get it fixed. it was still under warranty since i only had it for 2 weeks. i got it back a week later and it worked for about a day. Then it stopped working for no reason. i sent it back to olympus for the second time and now it's been 2 weeks and i still don't have it back yet. They won't get back to me, i call up and get put on hold for 40 minutes and they still have nothing for me. All i get is that they are still working on it. All i want is a new camera. My advice is buy something thats more reliable. It's not Olympus.
