Pros:
Can carry several books at a time |
Cons:
Have to turn off when taking off and landing on a plane. When I first saw someone reading the Sony Reader on a bus, I knew I had to get one. Why? Two reasons. 1. I love new gadgets. 2. I love reading!
What I love about my Sony Reader is I can switch to any book I have loaded in memory at and time. If I want to read something fast, I go to a short story. Or if I am in the mood for that long novel, I can read that too.
Since I got my Sony Reader two months ago, I have read more books than if I had not had it. For some reason I love holding it and not to mention its so small and convienient to hold and read.
With a little persistance on your part, you can find a whole community of people out on the net that also has the Sony Reader. They are also willing to help you with your questions, concerns and tech questions about what books you are looking for and where to find them.
If you are considering getting one and if you read a lot of books, you won't regret this book!

Pros:
Able to add personal content without converting it to proprietary format. Long battery life. |
Cons:
Sony Connect book store prices are about the same as a hard copy bookstore, so $$$ savings are minimal. PDF files can not have the fonts resized. I received my Sony Reader as a Christmas present in 2006, and have yet to pick up a paper book since then.
The Reader can read RTF, PDF and the "default" LRF format.
A number of individuals are putting out converting programs so people can make their own LRF files. The PDF files that are easily readable on a normal computer are so small, that you can barely read them, unless you "rotate" the screen. The Reader has this functionality built in. But even rotated, it is dificult to read the PDF files.
I have just converted my files to the RTF format and filled the reader, a 2 gig memory card, and never turned back.
If you are looking to save money on the cost of books (after all, the paper and binding does cost money...) you will need to look outside of the Sony Connect Bookstore. They do have a nice selection of "inexpensive" books, that are just reformatted files from
"Project Gutenberg." Other then that, most of the new book prices are within a few cents of the hardback prices. Slightly more savings for "paperback" released books.

Pros:
easy to read at any angle |
Cons:
not backlit easy to break hard to formate homemade files I saw this and wanted it the day it came out. I actualy got one of the first ones when they hit the shelves before xmas. The screen is easy to read basicly in any light you could read a normal screen. Back lighting would be nice for lowlight situations. The best feature is downloading from their ebook site. The books are well priced in a large variaty plus they are formated to fit the ebook. Plus its huge storage capasity. Biggest downside to me is how easy to break they are. I had mine about 2 months before the screen broke. If you travel alot consider a more durable ebook they are out there.

Pros:
light, slim, easy to read and the ability to use many styles of memory cards. |
| Cons:
could be a little cheaper. Easy to read and function, looks cool, very light and it's a Sony, what else can you ask for...The silver screen one is very hard on the eyes in well lit areas so we've done a lot of research just to find the perfect ebook, and we are very happy with the PRS 500 pda.
