Pros:  Portability + Great Software

Cons:  Can be slow I have had my unit for about a year now. I travel all the time, gone usually from Monday thru Friday of the following week. I do all my expense report receipt scanning using the scanner at home, in the office, and in hotels. At very high resolutions the scan time can take a while but thats only needed on poor quality receipts.

The software that comes with it is called PaperPort and allows many forms of document manipulation and editing. It allows easy porting to PDF (you can scan it in directly as PDF) and stacking multiple PDF files into one PDF Document. The software uses a Windows Explorer type look and feel though there are differences, mainly Paperport is better - at least for its main use.

My unit has been around the world many times and is not babied. Between Customs & Immigration, TSA, and just general travel abuse it has gone through the wringer more than a few times but is still working fine.

I'm not sure what the previous reviewer meant about "Too many icons" there are the normal Drag & Drop icons along the bottom for printing and deleting and if you double click on a scanned item it comes up in its own app for manipulation that has a lot of icons but they are pretty easy to learn how to use.

All in all I would recommend the Unit alone but even more so with PaperPort added. The other software that bundled with it I don't use.

Pros:  compact

Cons:  non-intuitive This scanner is a pain to use. First of all, you have to put the paper in upside down--perhaps a picky thing to harp about, but other scanners don't make you do that.
Second, the software is non-intuitive. Too many goddamn icons that don't tell you anything--I'm getting tired of this.

I'm sorry I bought this.
