Pros:  Settings | Flip-out LCD | Image Sensor & Quality

Cons:  No IS See Pros and Cons.

Bottom Line: Debating mostly between S3 IS and A710 IS. Chose this as a starter camera due to the monster set of manual settings. If I get good at this, I'll justify the SLR purchase

Why choose A630? Better sensor, better quality pictures, flip out screen

Not S3 IS? Smaller sensor

Not A710? More of a point and shoot

Pros:  Cannon makes excellent cameras

Cons:  lacking a multitude of premeire features Overall Cannon makes a great product. I sell Digital cameras and know a little bit more then just the average person who just pushes a button and takes a picture. How this Camera is number 1 I honestly have NO idea. It's solid. Thats it. The design is a 50/50 shot if you like it or hate it. People say "Oh I love the grip it helps me keep a good steady hand" and others say "I can't even wrap my hand around that dang thing I hate it."

2nd the ISO @ 800 is the lens speed, and 800 is slow.

What does this mean?

You know when your infant or best buddy at the bar does something in the moment that is so perfect and you want to capture it? Well this camera's ISO will prolly cost you that split second chance beacuse the lens speed (shutter speed) is slow I.E. from the time you press the button for the picture, to when it actually takes the picture you have lost your great picture.

Another Key feature now with Digi cams is Digital Image Stabalization. Honestly I would recommend to ANYONE buying a cam, don't get one without this feature. If you move or your hands are shaking etc, and you take a picture, assuming you have this feature, your chances of having the pic come out is much higher. Without image stabalization it's probably going to be pretty bad.

Overall this camera has a slow shutter speed, and lacks the stabalization to get that quick snapped picture with quality. It does have some good qualities such as the 8 mega pixels (only good for printing and Digital zoom however), and it has a 4X optical zoom, whereas 3X is pretty standard (so slightly better). It's user friendly, but in most cases digi cams are kinda being stream-lined to the point that most are pretty user friendly. Not a bad buy, but definetly others out there that give a bigger "Bang for your buck."

Pros:  Size, options, picture quality

Cons:  Haven't found one yet After using a larger Sony digital camera, it was nice to use a camera that was smaller and more comact yet had all the same features on it. Appears easier to use than my Sony...

Pros:  Great pics, well built, ease of use

Cons:  Nothing major I researched cams in this range for some time, and just kept coming back to this one. It does very well and is handy to keep close because of the size. I am amazed with battery life. Great job Canon!

Pros:  High quality camera. Feels well built and takes wonderful photos.

Cons:  Some photo's in low light are blurry or just plain garbage. I bought this camera last week and it came in the mail last Thursday. For the first few days I didn't really mess with it because I had to work everyday. But when I finally got around to messing with it I found out what a great purchase I made! The photo's it takes come out clear and sharp. The 4x optical zoom along with the 4x digital zoom push the camera over the top on greatness. I bought the camera for $250 for the use at Amusement/Theme parks. I haven't been able to try it out at a park yet but I believe it will take wonderful pictures. I also bought a 2 GB card which allows me to take about 500 Large Superfine photo's. Overall I recomment the purchase of this camera!

Pros:  photos are great quality, lots of features

Cons:  not the best for night shots I have had the camera for several months now, and have shot thousands of photos. THe camera is versital, with many good features, and has excellent macro and zoom capabilities.
Unfortunatley, b/c I am an outdoors kinda person, killed two of the cameras due to dust and sand inside of them. The camera is otherwise very durable. Upon sending the cameras into Canon, I was told that the problem was an expensive fix, and was NOT covered by warrenty.

Pros:  Auto or Manual Either creates Great shots

Cons:  Forget which way to turn the viewer can break This camera has many of the features of my professional camera packed into a digital camera. It is sturdy as I have taken it camping, hiking, biking, and have dropped it several times and it still works great. The card fits right into my printer to view in my printer screen. Pictures come in many pixels. Large pictures are clear for portriat and small pictures are clear. I can make them have special affects if I want and can take motion pictures. I recommend this camera for the beginner or expert. Filters are available too.

Pros:  Ease of use

Cons:  shutter lag I bought mine as a cheap backup to a more expensive camera. I was amazed and pleased with the ease of use and picture quality. The LCD screen is great. I keep this camera close by at all times. Itis small enough to slip into a pocket or laptop case. I liked it so well I bought my son one to take to school with him. Now I get pictures of what he is doing and his friends. He likes the ability to control settings. I mostly use the auto settings. There is much to like in this camera, thank you Canonfor building it.

Pros:  Plenty of easy to use manual settings and the rotatable LCD makes life easy when photographing from difficult angles.

Cons:  Yet to discover any This is the first digital camera I've owned and I'm extremely pleased with my choice so far. I did quite a bit of research and read plenty of reviews before deciding which camera to purchase and everything I came across pointed at the A630 being the wisest choice. With this camera I can learn so much and create pleasing images without the expense of a DSLR.
