Pros:  Superb and sharp image quality, wide selection of excellent lens

Cons:  Price This is the first DSLR i own and i loooved it. images are very sharp. response speed was good. loved the colours it produces. big and sharp LCD screen helps a lot.

didn't regret it a moment. a great bargain for the money paid. basically got most of the high end features of a D200 at half (?) the price. D50 didn't cut it for me because I wanted a camera that will last me at least 4-5 years, with enough features for me to explore and grow with.

nikon lenses are just superb (but expensive).

go get it!!!

Pros:  Fast, accurate 11-point autofocus; excellent LCD display; high-speed USB connection; extra-long battery life; most of all though, superb image quality

Cons:  I would have loved a manual cable release feature, but that is probably asking too much I have been using SLRs for twenty-five years, and this is my second Digital SLR. The D80 has greatly exceeded my expectations. This camera is easy enough to operate for my wife to pick up and use immediately, even though her experience is barely beyond point-and-shoot (her newest camera is a Coolpix S4). At the same time, it has almost all of the features that I could hope for, and some that I would have never thought up.

I can't figure out the reviewer who suggested that image quality from the D80 is poor. I can only imagine that it is due to the lens that he is using. I could not be happier with the image quality, but I have only used Nikkor ED lenses with my D80.

I have been very impressed with the auto-focusing, metering system and flash sync at 1/200 sec. The viewfinder is as bright as you will find, and I have barely scratched the surface of the in-camera editing capabilities.

I was thinking about buying a D200, but I could not justify the price difference. The D80 just seemed to be a better value.

If you are trying to decide whether to buy a Rebel XTi or a D80, I suggest that you go to any store that carries both in stock. If you look them both over, I'm fairly certain that you will strongly lean towards the D80. The only reason that I could see opting for the XTi is if you already have compatible Canon lenses. I have Canon and Nikon lenses, but the D80 was an easy choice.

Pros:  Ease of use, 10.2 megapixels.

Cons:  None-Worth every penny The Nikon D80 is the perfect camera for capturing all those important moments in life. At a price tag of over a grand, this camera is worth every penny. Having a one year old son who is enjoying Thanksgiving and Christmas for the first time I can capture every facial expression and emotion with clarity and precision. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone who cares about those precious moments in life.

Pros:  D70 UPGRADE WITH D200 TWIST!!!!!!!!!

Cons:  THEY COULD'VE KEPT THE COMPACT FLASH BUT SD IS JUST AS GOOD!!! I BOUGHT THIS CAMERA AFTER DOING SOME HOMEWORK ON THE NIKON WEBSITE AND,I TELL YOU WHAT,THIS CAMERA IS A BEAST! I LOVE THE 2.5 IN SCREEN IN THE BACK,YOU AND,ANOTHER PERSON CAN SEE,THE PICTURE WITHOUT STRAINING YOUR EYES. THE VIEWFINDER IS EXCELLENT. IT'S BIG ENOUGH FOR YOU TO SEE WHAT YOU'RE TAKING A PICTURE OF AND,IF YOU WHERE GLASSES,IT'S A GOOD ADVANTAGE FOR YOU. THE 10.2 MEGAPIXELS REALLY SHOWS AFTER YOU DOWNLOAD YOUR IMAGES IN YOUR PC OR LAPTOP. I RECOMEND THIS CAMERA TO ANYBODY LIKES PHOTOGRAPHY AND,DOESN'T HAVE D200 MONEY. THE D80 IS REALLY A NIKON ACHIEVEMENT AND,I'M GLAD I GOT ONE. YOU BETTER GET YOURS. THIS CAMERA HAS GOT A LOT OF FEATURES THAT YOU CAN USE WHILE TAKING PICTURES. RETOUCHING,QUICK START UP TIME AFTER TURNING THE POWER ON,LONGER BATTERY LIFE,I MEAN THE LIST GOES ON!!! THE D80 IS TRULY A CAMERA THAT GETS RESPECT.

Pros:  love the mega pixel upgrade from the d70

Cons:  the body seems a bit too light I love the fact that all my accessories from the d70 can be used on my d80, and I especially love the fact that the camera is super user friendly unlike the d200. I can be a camera geek without having to go to college to learn how to use it.

Anyone who purchases the camera will absolutely love it and be able to take great quality prictures.

Look for great deals like Costco-they sell a package which includes the camera, 2 lenses, bag, strap and free digital picture development for less then 1300.00. You cant beat the price.

Have fun snapping.... ; )

Pros:  Picture quality the best, features are excellent

Cons:  Too many people will like it and there goes the cult value I traded in my D70 for the D80 and can tell you you won't miss a beat as you step up. The greater image quality alone is worth it, plus all your accessories you bought for the 70 slip right one. Nikon has done an excellent job with this camera which is good for the professional or the advanced amateur. Now if I can just afford some more lens like maybe something around the 2000mm size, life would be good.

Pros:  this is the best dslr for anyone that does not have enough monery to buy a d200

Cons:  if you never had a slr camera lens's are expensive i am a buyer's guid reader and i hardley ever right reviews but i must say i have never seen a more praised camera on the market. I purchaced my d80 over 6 months ago and i have never been more satisfied with a single purchace in my life. the d80 has changed my way i view a picture and how they are taken, it is an insperation on my life. i have ran into only 2 situations i have needed a little more than what the d80 offers 1 long exposure shot of the stars - the d80 only offers a 30 second exposure unless you get the remote for about $18 and then its limetless. (great for showing movement with the stars) and 2 verry quick sequences are not bad but 3fps is not that fast for somethings.

i hope i help someone in their next purchace of a dslr because this camera will change your life

Nikon D80 ... A Pro Camera at a Consumer Price

Pros:  Quality, Speed, Pro Features, Accessories, Price

Cons:  For the money - None. Simply stated, the D80 is a great camera for the price. The quality lives up to the Nikon name, many of the features come from the D2Xs and D200, and the line of accessorries help you capture images that meet the needs and specifications of any working photographer. I own three.

Pro features? First, the 10 mega-pixel sensor is a key selling point. Next, I like the speed of the camera, both the focus and shooting speed of the camera are top rate. Then, features as aperture priority, on-demand grid lines, exposure compensation (both camera and flash), depth-of-field button, multiple exposure, and the ability to customize the features to meet your own personal needs make this a "pro" camera. For example, I like to control the aperture with my thumb so I can keep my index finger on the shutter at all times. The D80 makes it happen.

Accessorries? It is a Nikon, enough said. I use the 12-24mm and 18-200mm as my main working lenses. I also own the 18-55mm and the 80-400mm zoom lenses.

Two of my bodies have the MB-80 grips. I also have the SB-600 flash with the SC-28 cord to off-set the on-camera flash when needed. My favorite? The ML-L3 remote control. Nice.

Rugged quality, pro features, a wide range of accessories (what good is a camera body?), and a reasonable price (if indeed $900 - $1000 is reasonable) make this camera a great bargain.

As a part-time college photography instructor and travel photographer, I can attest to the quality and features of this camera. It does all I want and meets my needs, what else is there? Pro or beginner, get one and see if it doesn't meet your needs as well.

Cons? The "consumer label" and just maybe that $900 - $1000 price tag. But with the new D300 coming out, that might just drop as well.

Pros:  Auto Everything if you wish, Fast Battery Charge, Feels good to hold

Cons:  Plastic logo looks cheap-Price is a bit high, but not disaapointed. I am new to the camera thing, but needed to take close up shots for my business. Close ups of fine details like fabric texture, button details and true color. Bought the D80 body and the 60mm f/2.8d AF Micro lense (over $400 for lense alone). No messing around with trial and error, no learning curve, point - beep - shot and (in auto mode) this camera dose its' magic and the veiw finder is huge at 2.5 easy to see and easy to delete shots right on the spot if I dont like the pictures I keep taking of my thumb..... Picture quality and detail are simply unbelievable....Really!!.....all the good words for this set-up if you need close ups of small details and do not want to spend hours figuring out how to operate a camera. I was shotting great pics within 5 minutes after I dropped the battery in. No advice from the store, just reviewed the set-up sheet that came in the box. I am sure I will want to take some real photos down the road as well and will eventually use the AF-S DX zoom 18-55mm lense that came with the original package. I think I am getting a camera thing.

The best ever!
