Cons:
lack of drivers for standard peripherals, slow performance on normal hardware, I have been using Windows Vista Enterprise in my HP laptop on a day to day basis for the last 8 months. Suffice to say it is a capable multimedia machine and came with XP factory installed. Many applications required upgrade, among them Intervideo WinDVD, Nero Burning ROM, and McAfee VirusScan Enterprise. Likewise, drivers for touchpad, soundcard, WiFi were largely waited. User Account Control is not the panacea for user security, and seems like too big a tool for such a simple job. ReadyBoost does not bring enough acceleration. Having used Yahoo Konfabulator and its widgets on XP, Vista Sidebar and Gadgets are useless, a waste of screen real-estate while sucking CPU cycles. The Photo Gallery, Defender and Firewall are worse than similar products you will download for free. The Ultimate Extras are an outrageous lack of respect for their customers, Dreamscene becomes boring after 2 or 3 minutes of use. Desktop Search is worse than Googles. IE7 is easily surpassed by Firefox. And a promised feature, WinFS, never materialized.
So I will make myself a favor and return the machine to its factory state, HP QuickPlay and Windows XP included.

Pros:
Great New Fast Fast Fast Interface, Easy Install, Great New Features Like BitLocker Drive Encryption (Ultimate Version Only) |

| Cons:
Some Small Errors (Easily Fixed With Auto Update), Rearrangment Of Windows (In Comparison To XP) is a bit confusing at first glance Ok everyone says vista stinks...honestly i disagree. I Have Vista X64 Running On A Fully Loaded Gateway (500GB HD, 2GB DDR2 Dual Channel, Intel Dual Core 3.2GhZ) and its a great OS.. A Bit of a change from XP But for the better for sure. BitLocker Encryption (Vista Ultimate Only) is great for PC Security and in event of theft your secured to the max. I can say from some personal testing ive done you cannot break the encryption codes at all (From what ive tested) and i have not yet found anyone who has cracked the code encryption so that makes me feel safer....Anyways Good All Around Product...Worth the Money..MAKE SURE UR VISTA COMPATIBLE FIRST BEFORE U SPEND THE MONEY
