Belkin N1 Wireless Router

Product Description

Based on the 802.11n draft, N1 Wireless enables multiple receivers and transmitters to send and receive data wirelessly.

Intelligent MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) spatial multiplexing techniques build upon the widely deployed 802.11g standard by greatly increasing speed, range, and faster speeds of up to 300Mbps.

Using this smart-antenna technology, N1 Wireless from Belkin delivers greater range and faster speeds, for a quick and efficient way to distribute video, music, photos, and files among the networked computers in your home. The built-in Network Status Display lets you see your connections working. Each icon represents a network component, so you can easily monitor for fast troubleshooting.

Pros:  Setup

Cons:  Price I debated back and forth between the Belkin N1 and the Belkin PreN Router/Card combo. To finally pull the trigger I put the two in front of 2 geek squad guys @ BBY. They both recommended the N1. Really easy setup. 2 laptops getting excellent signal. So far, so good.

I Love It!

Pros:  Ease of set up, speed

Cons:  None I was on the internet wirelessly within 15-20 minutes of this product being out of the box. I have absolutely no experience with wireless routers or networks and it was a breeze. The only issue was that I switched 2 wires during hook-up and the wizard detected it and told me to fix it. As far as durability or support I can't comment as I have no need to use them at this point. Very pleased

Pros:  Easy to set up

Cons:  Doesn't work Complete garbage. This company should be ashaned to sell this stuff. If you buy it you will be disappointed. Tech support personnel would be weeded from the gene pool if natural selection was still in operation. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

Pros:  EASY setup, very fast

Cons:  Serious lack of quality - I've gone through 2 routers in 6 months. Holy cow, this router was easy to set up. Worked great, right out of the box - great instructions, everything is labeled and color coded. Fantastic.

Not long after, the problems started - unit would lose the wireless connection. Sometimes resetting it would work, sometimes I'd need to call tech support (more on that later). Eventually, nobody could get it working so they sent me another. The new one worked fine for about 3 weeks, then the same problem. After one call to tech support, it completely DIED on the phone. They're sending me another, but I'm not that hopeful.

Tech support is available 24x7 which is nice, but hold times are really bad during the evenings. Tech support is hit or miss - most of them seem to know very little about the product or computers in general, and are obviously reading a script. I've received a lot of bad advice, and wasted a lot of time re-trying dead end options. Ask for tier 2 early and often.

Overall, it has been a waste of time and money. I'll be buying a Linksys when the third one dies.
