Pros:  Large capacity, retractable USB port.

Cons:  Lack of u3 software. My girlfriend had just purchased this flash drive for me, as she knows that as a designer, I am in a constant need for portable media storage. She bought me the 2GB version of the cruzer, and I love it.

Not only is it a flash drive, it's a portable computer. Using Sandisk's "U3" technology, you can install various programs onto the actual flash drive for use on other computers. Are you at a computer that doesn't have MS Word installed, but really need to access that document? No problem. With the U3 version of OpenOffice.org installed on your drive, you just plug it in any computer to access it. The computer doesn't have to have the program installed... your flash drive does.

There are other programs available for download as well such as WinAmp, Firefox, Trillian, etc, with more programs being developed everyday.

You can't just put any program on the drive and expect it to work... it's only flaw. You have to use actual programs developed with the U3 tech. But like I said, more are produced everyday, and it's only a matter of time before a patch or converter is available to curtail that.

Pros:  fast

Cons:  Not a full 4GB I was not aware that sandisk decided to make us use their U3 program against our will.
The annoying interface popped up everytime I tried to upload a file, and then warned me that the "drive" had not been properly shut down.
I buy thumb drives for storage - nothing else - so do all my friends and co workers.
We all have removed the U3 program to gain the full 4GB of storage we paid for.
If you want portability from one computer to the next - use briefcase. It's free and takes no room on your thumbdrive until you transfer the files.

And to remove it was a hassle - had to go to their website and jump thru a bunch of hoops designed to keep us from removing it. Like the removal program saw all my card eaders as drives - so I had to disable all of them to remove the U3 from the thumb drive - then go back and re enable all 6 ports.
No customer service to speak of - they give you a box on their website to air complaints - but you are the only one that can get to it - only form letters to the customer.
I'll buy Lexar or someone else's product from now on.
