Canon PIXMA MP830 Multifunction Printer

Product Description

The ultra-versatile PIXMA MP830 Office All-In-One delivers spectacular performance for the home and small office. It produces an amazing print resolution of up to 9600 x 2400 color dpi, for superb detail and clarity. To achieve this, Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) uses a next-generation 3, 584-nozzle print head that ejects precise, consistent droplets as small as 1 picoliter, for smooth, virtually grain-free images. The ContrastPLUS 5-color ink system-four dye based inks and a pigment-based black-ink-produces true-life photos along with laser-quality text. Plus, a 4" x 6" photo lab quality borderless print takes only about 36 seconds.

With the large 2.5" LCD color viewer and easy control panel, you can evaluate and enhance images from your compatible memory card before printing! Or, you can print directly from your PictBridge ready digital camera or DV camcorder. With direct printing, you don't need a computer.

This high-end office All-In-One does it all. The auto duplex Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) can read both sides of a 2 sided document, letting you copy or scan a 2-sided original without having to flip it over by hand! The ADF can hold 35 pages of originals at one time, making it much easier to copy, scan or fax multi-page documents. And when combined with the unit's dual paper trays, the ADF gives you the capability for high-capacity copying, even of 2 sided originals. The AE (Auto Exposure) Copy feature automatically optimizes reproduction quality based on the type of original you're duplicating. When scanning, the unit's high-resolution CCD technology enables you to produce exceptional 2400-dpi scans, with vibrant 48-bit color depth. And now, faxing: with the PIXMA MP830 Office All-In-One, you can achieve up to Super G3 fax speed in color and B&W. Plus, the expanded memory lets you store 100 speed dial codes, and receive up to 250 incoming pages.

So Far So Good

Pros:  Fast, Quiet, Quality Prints and Text

Cons:  Ink tanks are chip controlled My wife and I purchased the MP830 about three weeks ago, I must say, so far so good. We've printed high quality photos and text while using better quality papers and we're delighted with the numerous features that will help in a our small office environment. The first time we used it I was a bit disturbed with the noise of the unit, but after calling tech support they had me adjust the quiet mode which is found in the maitenance selection. Now you can hardly hear it print. It has two paper feeds, one in the back and the other in a tray located under the unit. I have looked for cheaper inks and found they are becoming more available, but as far as refilling the tanks, I don't think it's possible without voiding your warranty. I'm sure that in the near future someone will have a work around figured for this. The fax units instructions are a bit misleading, so if you have any problem's with setup, call Canon's Tech Support, they are free for the first 12 months after which it cost 9.95 per call, that is, unless you buy the extended warranty, which is an additional 95.00 for two more years. Not bad for the kind of support offered. All in all, I think this will be a keeper!!

Pros:  Can load the printer with two types of paper for easy switching as needed. I like the separate ink cartridges and print heads - cheap to print. Excellent Quality prints

Cons:  Do not like the bundled software - Looking for more features to crop and edit photos. I purchased an HP Jet Printer and it jammed frequently. This new printer works like a dream! The photos are wonderful. I am so glad I purchased this unit!

Ink Is Too Expensive

Pros:  Looks nice, easy too use

Cons:  Ink is way too expensive. I bought this printer to replace my cannon multi F50. I was really excited to have this printer until I had to replace the ink cartridges. They put a chip on the cartridges so you can only use Cannon Ink Cartridges; you can't refill the cartridges, because the chip will recognize that and make the cartridge useless. The ink goes very fast...You could easily spend $200 + a year on ink. I decided to junk this printer and buy a Brother instead. The ink is cheaper and you can use off brand ink if you choose too.

Pros:  Paper feed works good

Cons:  Print Quality Worked good at first, now it prints a large black ink stripe on the back side of the paper. Was told it was an ink tank issue but problem persists with new ink tanks ( 3rd set )

Pros:  Prints Great,Makes copies, scans to computer, card readers built in

Cons:  replace ink often, every now an then blank sheets Think this is a great printer, and has alot to offer for a all in one printer.Haven't had a jam up yet,and rarely have blank sheets go through. The only thing I can't stand is how quick it seems to run out of ink.No guessing when its low or runs out.Its very easy to replace ,and know which one to change.I'm Keeping this one,but looking for a second one Xerox phaser-laser for the volume I use.
