Pros:
Records content |
Cons:
Lots of freezing issues; terrible interface I want to like this thing, I really do. But it's chock full of annoying issues that show how little research or consumer testing Sirius did with this thing. It was clearly rushed out in time for Stern. The idea behind it is great, but poorly executed. For one, there's STILL no home docks available, so in order to record content, you have to leave it in your car. On top of that, most users have experienced problems where the unit freezes when it starts up to record a program. So enjoy waking up in the morning, going to your car to grab it, and being greeted by a frozen unit with no recorded content that you have to pull the battery out of to get it to reset. On top of that, the interface stinks. There's no bookmark feature, and this might be the worst thing about it. When you pause your recorded content and leave it paused for more than about a minute, the unit shuts down, and loses your place. Turn it back on for a few minutes of fast forwarding to the place you were at, assuming you memorized the time stamp when you paused it. There's nothing intuitive about any of the menus. Which one of the 5 buttons on the side will take you back to a certain menu? Who knows! Just make sure you don't accidentally shut it off while you're listening to something and lose your place! Plus, the battery life is terrible. A lot of people complain that it's not "truely portable" because you can't listen to live content without it being in the dock, but that's not even that big a deal. If the thing worked correctly, and recorded things on schedule, not being "live" wouldn't matter. I've heard that the portable sat radios get bad reception anyway. Bottom line, this thing could be good, even great, but don't buy this version. Wait until they upgrade it or update the firmware, or you'll be on the sirius backstage forums complaining about it to deaf ears like the rest of us.

Pros:
satellite radio quality programming |
| Cons:
is not what it appears to be, a satellite radio "walkman" This device must be connected to a special antenna to receive the satellite signal. Despite careful reading of the marketing materials pre-purchase, it was my understanding that this was a satellite radio one could strap to one's arm and go running with. Not so. All you can listen to "on-the-go" with this device is pre-recorded programming or MP3 files you've loaded onto it. Think of this as the VCR Of satellite radio. If you've planned ahead and recorded the program, you can be running with Howard Stern. Otherwise, you can listen to him in your car, connected to the antenna. And for that useage, this is a great little device. Sirius just needs to clarify it's marketing materials regarding what this device is and is not.

Pros:
You will make it work for you! |
| Cons:
None that can't be worked out with an open mind and a brain to match! The S50 is a superior listening device. The Sirrius people have offered the public the best product ever. All tech talk indicates that upgrades may well lead to satelite on the run. It's very exciting to own. They are hard to find for a reason.

Pros:
Great football coverage (better than XM Radio), lots of channels, and its Portable |
Cons:
Cost is Big If you like football like me, love the idea that it is portable and the king of radio Howard then this is for you. If you like to record music then this isnt for you, (you need to buy something for it). It holds up to 50 hours of songs and if your a music junky like me that will be filled in no time. Battery life is 6 hours great for the active people like me. I'll end it by saying this I bought one and I love it. - No record from the S50 also a big price. Dont listen to all of the bad reviews there just people that just want to record and kill the great radio. + Holds up to 50 hours of music and great channels. The best reason Haward and Portable :)

Pros:
only that is it Sirius Radio. |
| Cons:
everything else Before I start on the rant of this waste of a product, let me start off by saying I think Sirius Radio is one of the best technologies/products/services out there. But I must say, that these Stilleto things are rediculous. Why does every product in the world, have to have the original product, then come out with a handheld version? Why would I ever walk around with a Sirius Radio? When I'm walking, I'm heading somewhere, if I was exercising, maayyyybe, but still, if you run for a half hour, your gonna hear half of whatever your listening to, unless your actually listening to music, and not all the radio talk shows. Other than running and exercising this is a complete waste of money.

Pros:
Slick looking |
| Cons:
sound quality not as good as hard wire I am very please with my s50, I purchase it at Circuit City and had it install in my new car. Slick installation. The sound quality is good and very little interuption in service. I have an Ipod and have little interest in the MP3 features for the time being. Satellite radio is great and it will be the wave of the future...especially music without commercials...

You are pretty much paying for an MP3 player, not a portable sirius radio I bought this from Sirius.com thinking it was going to be like a "walkman" and I could tune in wherever I might be at the time. I really only bought it because I am a huge Howard Stern fan and I wouldn't miss his new show for the world. All they give you is the S50 receiver and the car kit. So how are you supossed to record anything from your home? You can't. You have to go buy something else in order to use it in your home. I spent $350 on something I can't even use at home? What a rip off! Right now I can only record in my car, but if I'm in my car and listening to the radio, why would I need to record anything? If you are looking for a portable sirius radio like I am...DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! I am returning it and haven't decided what to get instead, but I'm leaning toward the Sanyo CRSR-10 Radio. If you are looking for an expensive MP3 player, than the S50 is the way to go.
