Unified messaging has become the standard in telecommunication requests for proposals. Unified messaging is very simply the combining of voice, e-mail, or text messages so that the end user has access to all types of messages from the interface of their choice. The goal of unified messaging is to make it easy for end users to retrieve and send any type of message, from any type of device. One of the most common interfaces for access to a unified messaging inbox is the user's traditional e-mail client. At a glance, a user can see who messages are from, when they arrived and how urgent they are. They can read or listen to messages in any order, forward or save them - all at the click of a mouse button. Even when voice and email messages are coming in faster than the user can retrieve them, they can manage and prioritize what's important, saving the rest for later.
