Pros:
THE PRICE WAS REASONABLE AND THE NAME IS GOOD |
Cons:
YOU CAN NOT PRINT NO MORE THAN FIVE TO SIX PAGES AT A TIME BEFORE HAVING A PROBLEM. THIS PRINTER IS AN IMPROVMENT OVER THE HL 1440 IN SIZE,BUT THIS PRINTER DO HAVE A FUSE PROBLEM AND THE COMPANY HAVE YET TO ADMIT IT. RIGHT NOW I HAVE TO SHUT OFF THE PRINTER IN ORDER TO CONTINUE PRINTING. THE LED LIGHTS STAYS ON CONSTANTLY AND YOU HAVE TO WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO COME ON THE PHONE TO TELL YOU TO UNPLUG THE MACHINE OR DISCONECT THE PRINTER FROM THE COMPUTER. THEN IF THAT DON'T WORK THEY WILL SEND YOU ANOTHER PRINTER. NOW THE NEW PRINTER IS DOING THE SAME THING. TAKE MY ADVICE TRY ANOTHER BROTHER INSTEAD OF THE HL 2040, THIS IS A ROTTEN PRINTER.

Pros:
affordable |
| Cons:
none found I paid a high dollar for this printer $179 as I ordered it from a printer shop and not on line. I used the custom load feature so I can use any paper. It is set on "plain" and I am using up my ink jet paper. I have never had any trouble and have printed 40 pages or more at a time. It pauses after a few. After 15,000 pages you will need a new drum, costly but not as costly as my ink jet drying up when I went on trips and my room is hot. It has an ink saving feature. I have had this printer three months and am happy with it.

Pros:
Cheap price |
| Cons:
Cheap Printer, will not print more than 5-6 pages at a time Bought the printer because of the cheap price ($79) and I have been kicking myself ever sense. The printer has "fuser unit failure" after 5-6 pages and has to be shut off for fifteen minutes before it will print again. Stay away from this printer... far away.

Pros:
Fast!, inexpensive, and reliable |
Cons:
None I bought one of these printers last year for my home, and I liked it so much that I just bought another one for work. I love the speed- very short warm up time, and it will print 20 pages per minute. The best feature is the cost of replacement toner- which is about $30 online for a non-brother replacement. Overall, I'm extremely happy with both of my printers.

3rd machine with the same problem!! I got the "intellifax" changed 2 times, this is the 3dr machine I'm using and again, presents the same problem, the papers got jammed inside. At work I receive an average of 10 faxes daily and is a mess, I am going to change for another brand.

Pros:

| Cons:
none for the price I got this printer for $90 after rebate. No problems at all during install or initial use. No more paper curl than any home Laser printer. Like any Laser (I own 4 others) it needs POWER. It will dim the lights if you have an overloaded plug!

Cons:
To Persnickty. I have had at least 6 or 7 different printers (including other Brother printers) over the last 15 years. And I would not reccomend this piece of junk under any circumstances - it is the most aggravating printer I have ever had. Here is why - If you try to hand feed a sheet of paper in to the slot on the front of the printer (to print the back of a page) it is very difficult to get it to go in straight. Most often the page goes in crooked and if it doesnât jam it comes out with the lines printed cockeyed on the page. If you choose to avoid this ultra sensitivity of the feed slot and put the page in the drawer and the page is not entirely flat it won't feed from the drawer, or the machine picks up a blank page below the one you want printed on the back. Also if you use the smallest margins it does not print the letters down the left edge of the page. I wish I could use my old Brothers HL 1040 printer but it needs a image drum and the 1040 model is discontinued. Regarding Support - when I called Brothers they had no suggestions. When I told them I had bought and used several of their products in the past and was satisfied with them, but would never buy another Brothers âanythingâ if they wouldn't make good on this aggravating printer, they so much as said 'tough luck buddy'. I even offered to return it (it is almost new) and give them more $ for a better printer and they refused. Goodbye Brothers

Pros:
Nice print quality, fast, cheap |
Cons:
premature burial After it finished its first toner cartridge, i was very happy with it. But then when i bought a new toner cartridge, and put it in, the toner light would not go off. I understand from the manual that this is a "fuser failure".
Disappointing, considering it was doing fine up til then.
