Pros:  Sharing of USB drives

Cons:  Initial mapping may be confusing to basic computer users I've been using one for two years with great success. Data transfer rates are a little slow for large files, and it seems to need to "wake up" after periods of dormancy, but it provides easy use to large USB drives via a network. Users familiar with device mapping and port setup will probably have an easier time configuring this device. (I'm about to install my second.)

Only the early versions of firmware required special formatting of the disks.

Pros:  none

Cons:  poor customer support At first everything was fine. I was able to move files easily from the unit to other computers. I have both ports on the device in use. Then something happened and I was unable to access disk 2. There was a problem with the mapping of this disk. After a call to Linksys for 2 HOURS!! Still I cannot access disk 2. It looks like all my data on that drive will be lost!

Pros:  Easy and simple user interface

Cons:  2 drive limit- This was so easy to set up. Allows user to set up different shares for a drive. The only downside it having to format the drive to be able to set shares. Access is also controlled via the system. It really is that simple. I really love this. Allows for multiple users to access the same share/disk space.

Pros:  Great price and concept

Cons:  Configuration extremely difficult After buying 2 units (I was told the first was defective by the Linksys help desk), I couldn't configure this drive on my network. I have 2 notebook PC's connected to my all Linksys wireless network. They couldn't find this drive on the network. Multiple calls and hours on the phone with Linksys couldn't resolve the problem, so I ultimately gave up. It's a great idea and very flexibile since you supply your own hard drive, but configuration in my simple network wasn't easy. I took these both back to the store for a refund.
