Sony DCR-VX2100 DV Camcorder

Product Description

Take control of sound and vision with the DCR-VX2100. With its new Advanced HAD progressive scan CCD technology, illumination is improved dramatically, delivering superior low-light performance without the use of infrared technology. By increasing the CCD's sensitivity to light, clearer, brighter video with more lifelike color can be captured, even when recording in dimly lit environments.

Its 58mm aspherical lens and duel-position neutral density filter minimize distortion from standard spherical lenses and compensate for varying lighting situations such as studio lights or direct sunlight. Additionally, the VX2100 includes a built-in lens cap to protect the enhanced optics package, manual audio control and PCM Digital Stereo Audio in 12 and 16-bit modes, a manual focus and manual zoom ring, built-in color bar generator, 16: 9 wide screen recording capability, intelligent accessory shoe, both 12x optical and 48x digital zoom, advanced optical SteadyShot picture stabilization and up to seven hours1 of operation with the optional NP-F960 InfoLithium battery.

Pros:  delightful picture

Cons:  pricy This is a great camera if you got the cash. The real upgrade from the vx2000(the older one) is the sound, and that the record buttens and zoom are not only on the body but also on the handle. I am going to go out on a lim here and say this is the best prosumer camera on the market.

p.s. dont buy the canon gl2 its the same thing as the gl1 only bigger and more expensive. Also buying on ebay is a risk. I was just almost skamed but at the last second relized it and did not pay. Good luck and may the queen be with you.

Pros:  Quality of everything

Cons:  none I knew this camera would have good low light capabilities but I had no idea they would be this good. The image stabilizer works great and there are many manual controls, but works great in auto mode too. Both audio and video quality are great. I would say this is a great camera, you get what you pay for. It's well worth the money.

Pros:  Outstanding in low-light, light size, color LCD viewfinder, easy focus ring and aperture controls.

Cons:  Doesn't have an XLR input/output, but you can solve that problem by purchasing a 3-feet XLR mic jack extention I like the size (not too heavy, not too light). It's color LCD viewfinder makes it easy to concentrate on the frame (unlike the Canon XL1S). It's battery life lasts long minutes. I have used the Canon XL1S, but I prefer the Sony VX2100.
