Pros:  AFFORDBLE

Cons:  OPERATION TOO COMPLICATED, TOO MANY STEPS IN MANUAL RECORDING. THUS FAR I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE DIFFICULTY OPERATING THE RECORDER FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN NORMAL OR HIGH SPEED COPY FUNCTIONS. THE NIGHTMARE OF PROGRAMING AND BUTTON PUSHING IS OUT OF DATE. PHILLIPS MADE A MUCH BETTER AS IN EASE OF OPERATION AND A CREATIVELY MORE RESPONSIVE MACHINE. ONLY ONE (1) TRY IS NEEDED FOR A COPY FROM DISC. WITH THE ABILITY TO INPUT OTHER SOURCES EASILY, NOT BY AN ACT OF - - -.

Pros:  Nice 5 changer player

Cons:  Only records on Audio CD-R media This unit only will record using Audio or Music CD-R.....couldn't figure out why it wouldn't record. Part of copyright protection built in. Any disc made cannot be copied again. Once I discovered this problem which is not mentioned in the owners manual it recorded well. I see this restriction a big drawback but it is common to all stand lone CD recorders. By the way, Audio CD-R discs cannot be used to record in computer CD-R drives.

Does a nice job of recording from analog devices such as tape players, turn tables and even MP3 players using standard stereo inputs. The 5 disc CD player works well.

Your computer can copy CD's more easily with fewer restrictions. This unit is more for copying your older media such as tapes and vinyl records.

Pros:  5 disc changer

Cons:  can not play both sides simutaneously. I thought the system was fairly easy to operate but you can not play both sides simultaneously. So unless you connect another CD player to your system you will not be able to record from one CD to another.
I will return it.

Serves My Needs

Pros:  Pretty Versatile

Cons:  More "features" then I'll ever use I got this unit at a garage sale and found out that it has more features than I will ever use. After downloading the manual from Sony, I found out how to turn features on or off. Once I set it up the way I wanted it (almost completely manual operation), I recorded from some cassettes, LPs, and CDs (in the analog mode). Overall they turned out pretty good. There was some distortion on one track from a CD, but I don't think that it was the machines fault. Still, I'm happy with what I got. Even if it is not "perfect", it serves my needs.

Great machine!

Pros:  price, set up, quality, sound

Cons:  may be difficult for a novice! This machine burns terrific CDs. The ease of loading 5 CDs into the play side and making a compilation CD on the record side makes it even more valuable. Inputs/outputs include optical, so recordings are true digital! Highly recommended, unless you are the type of person that is electronically challenged!

Pros:  the system looks good

Cons:  the system does not work for me I have been back and forth with SONY for the past several weeks. I cannot get the system to write CD'S from my cassette deck. I purchased the SONY Stereo Cassette Deck TC-WE675 and theSONY Stereo FM/AM Receiver STR-DE 197 along with my SONY Compact Disc Recorddr RCD-W500C. all three items at the same time. and I cannot CANNOT get this system together.

I have no idea what I need to do. I am so very very disappointed. I am a very unhappy customer.
