Pros:  loudness and good sound quality

Cons:  a little too pricey I got these to replace my old sony mdr-700dj headphones. In comparison these hdj-1000 are slightly better. It is definitely louder and I don't know maybe I am imagining it, but it actually sounds better. The bass quality is better than the sony because it doesn't drown out the mids. The bass is still quite strong. I guess most DJs like that because you can hear and count the beats even in very noisy conditions. It feels slightly more comfortable too. I was expecting it to be much lighter than the sony but i don't think that they are. The swivel joints in these headphones can move freely. With the sony, the plastic encasing to the joints break after a year or shorter depending on the frequency of usage. So I am happy with this purchase. I'll just have to wait a few months and see how they hold up. It's still too new to tell about anything else besides the fact that it sounds awesome.
