CiscoWorks Network Connectivity Monitor (NCM) is the newest addition to the CiscoWorks family of management solutions designed to help make Cisco networks the most manageable and available in the industry. As networks also grow more complex, customers need tools to assist them in meeting one of the most technically challenging aspects of maintaining a network - fault isolation. In a Cisco network, NCM works out of the box to pinpoint connectivity problems in real time and identify their impact. This sophisticated analysis tool can leverage the fault expertise in CiscoWorks Device Fault Manager (DFM) and/or CiscoWorks IP Telephony Environment Monitor (ITEM), thereby expanding the value of your CiscoWorks investment. CiscoWorks NCM connectivity intelligence can also be forwarded to other multi-device, multi-vendor event management systems installed in the network. Never before have Cisco networks been more manageable.CiscoWorks NCM provides real-time, detailed network connectivity analysis for Cisco networks. Providing immediate out-of-the-box value, NCM has connectivity analysis intelligence built in and doesn't require users to determine rules, polling parameters, or valid threshold values.
The focus on Cisco networking devices, combined with its integration with CiscoWorks DFM and CiscoWorks ITEM, enables CiscoWorks NCM to monitor networks built on Cisco products and technologies for a variety of fault conditions and indications. After the fault analysis is complete, CiscoWorks NCM will notify the user only when a problem has been detected that might affect network availability.
For each of the supported Cisco devices, CiscoWorks NCM automatically analyzes a range of service-affecting network connectivity problems. As the network grows and changes, CiscoWorks NCM will detect changes in Cisco devices and adjust its analysis accordingly.
