Just got my new wireless router along with a Netgear WG511 laptop card and I had them up and running in about 15 minutes. My DSL connection uses pppoe that requires a login using software called Enternet. I was skeptical about how easily the wireless router would connect over such a system since it isnt simply an always on ethernet connection coming out of the back of the modem. But the router included an insert with a list of ISPs and a chart that showed exactly how to set your settings. I was connected on the first try and it has worked like a charm ever since. Fantastic product. I have no idea what support is like because I havent had the need to contact anyone (and dont expect to have to either.) Its great to be unleashed.

Pros:
Trouble free for 6 months and probably forever |
|
|
|
| Cons:
Installation instruction is lacking I had to call Netgear tech support and was up and running in few minutes. If the instructions would indicate that the reset button must be pressed for 30 seconds the telephone call would have been unnecessary.

Cons:
knocked cable modem out of service, couldn't register Last Sat. I attempted to replace a d-link RJ45 router with a WGR614 Netgear wireless G router. It worked for a few moments, then knocked out my cable internet connection (RCA cable modem). I tried to work through the instructions and debug procedures for several hours. I called Comcast, plugged the modem to the pc directly, which still didn't restore the connection, and made an appointment for service to restore the cable internet. Then I called called Netgear support. To use phone support, you have to register your product online, difficult when its knocked out your connection, so I hung up. An hour later, my internet connection started working (Ok direct to pc, or w D-link, but Netgear would kill it), so I tried to register the Netgear online, but it said the SN was invalid! I called, and after holding about 20 minutes, got a support technician who said my product wasn't registered and started to terminate the call, but I insisted on support and he explained that som

Pros:
Can't find one. |

Cons:
Bad support, bad QC, bad router I purchased a WGR614v2, and for about 2 weeks it continually had intermittent problems. In many tests, I finally narrowed it down to it's inability to handle large amounts of file transfers/packets.
I upgraded the firmware, and the problem still persisted. I opened up a trouble ticket with Netgear and they advised me that the router was defected and to return it for a replacement. I went back to CompUSA, and received a replacement (no problem from CompUSA). This time I received a WGR614v3.
The same exact problem persists with this new router. After another 2 hours with tech support from Netgear, they advised me to return this one and to try again! Infact, they even advised me to get a WGR614v2 instead of a WGR614v3! I'm afraid not! 2 routers out of 2 are defective! That doesn't say much for their QC or their products in general.
To emphasis that it IS their router(s) that are defective, I can connect to neighbors APs (Linksys and Actiontec) with no problem what-so-ever! It is only when I connect to a NetGear AP, that this problem exist.
Run, don't walk, from Netgear!

Pros:
terrible |

Cons:
terrible This is by far the worst product on the market. There is no service from Netgear. This is a DEFECTIVE product and needs to be recalled. You will lose connection after 10 mins or so everytime. If you say this is a good product, keep it for awhile and then review it again. Give it back and buy a Linksys.

Pros:
great connection when it works |
|
|
|
Cons:
dosen't always work I've used a couple different wireless routers. Net gear was easy to set up and get my system running. However, I've had a few times where it just doesn't work. Why it doesn't work I don't know.... Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and it will usually stop working for about 30 minutes at a time. I thought I could fix it by getting the latest firmware from Net Gear and I did that and it started working again but only for about 10 minutes.
I guess it's possible I'm getting some type of unknown interference but my other wireless router never had that problem.
I guess what I'm saying is I'm please but a little fustrated with netgear. If your in the market I would advise you to get another brand.
Good Luck

Pros:

| Cons:
technical support and customer service doesn't exist router continuously dropped connection, was not compatable with DSL motem I had. Also after exttensive testing I conducted using this router I found that it is unsafe for an unexperienced user to use, it is very easily hacked into allowing your valuable and sensitive information to become vulnerable. Tech support is based in India and you can never understand what they are saying, which they only read from a text book of how to correct problems. SO in fact are clueless of how to fix any problems. They are also rude and very degrading to customers. I have worked with computers for 30+ years and have never been treated with such disrespect in my life The router was defective from the purchase ( and I exchanged it 3 times) which I have come to find that all their products are. They wanted to charge me to replace the router. Customer service does not return phone calls nor is helpful. Do yourself a favor get a LYNKSYS router, I have used these products for years now and have never encoutered a problem.

Pros:
Easy set-up, good range, rarely drops, great security |
|
|
|
Cons:
None really Just purchased the router today, the only problem I ran into was my laptop did not want to connect. Set up took only a few minutes. My one real complaint is the support. Even though the lady was a great help, we had a hard time communicating, it was like talking to a wall. Which leads to my only other concern, after talking with her, in order to get my laptop to communicate I had to upgrade the firmware for the router and the update my wireless driver. Then I was able to communicate and I have not had a problem since.
Overall this is the best router I had found. The security is great (except no information on WEP), range is awesome, looks great, can't say enough. I strongly recommend getting this router or another router by Netgear if possible.
