This camcorder is a dream made to reality. If you want to be in the top 5 bracket of video production but, cant afford to spend the top dollars, this camcorder solves your problem; if you are in the top 5, have the cash flowing behind you like debri but, your looking for a lighter camcorder to tote around and still maintain your perfection in video production, the GL-2 mini-dv camcorder is the way to go. From home video, vacation in the mountain, sunset captures, cruising in the caribbean or making your next block buster movie. This is the camcorder for you and your business.

I had a chance to use a friends GL-1 and I found out that was a great camera since then I was always thinking to buy it but since I had another single CCD DV I was always hesitating now when GL-2 came out I'm not gonna waste time and wait for another 2-3 years to decide to buy a GREAT camera. I have already order it, they do not have this model in China yet but they promise me that they will get one for me in two weeks time, already past one week and I already wrote the script for my next short film, I can not wait for the moment I will get this camera in my hands. For me GL-1 was a great camera so since this is an upgrade of the GL-1 I'm sure that I took the right decission, it's a great camera for indies. If you buy a camera of the same standars but bigger in size then you carry an excessive weight. If you buy a camera smaller than this then you propably get a camera with a smaller size CCD and smaller zoom lens, I advise every guy over there to do not compromise, get the best.

This camera has everything you need to create professional quality DV productions. It's light, has a tremendous lens and the three CCDs bring your subject matter to life. The shots of the sunset from the deck of the houseboat are astounding.

I had a Canon xl 1, great camera but uncomfortable to use. The GL 2 has wonderful features, smaller and less pro looking. Really like the zoom speed choices, hate the small buttons / embeded menue. XL1 buttons are better, but take up more space. The small size of the GL2 is the better trade off. This is a hard working unit. I used my XL1 in all sorts of weird places (helicopers, oil rig floors, ect.) the Gl 2 will work even better I think.
