Halo: Combat Evolved Xbox

Product Description

In the most obvious sense, the "~Halo" is a space station built in the shape of an enormous rotating wheel. As the wheel spins, it creates centripetal force that mimics gravity on its inner rim. An entire world exists inside this wheel, with huge developed structures and vast, open landscapes. But something else exists in the Halo as well - something mysterious and powerful. All that is really known is that a force of alien invaders is desperate to find it and they are leaving death and destruction in the wake of their search. This mystery of Halo must be solved and the aliens must be vanquished, before they find what they are looking for and destroy us all.

The action in Halo is squad-based. While gamers have lots of options when making decisions about the individual characters they will play, many missions are best accomplished through teamwork and certain multiplayer capabilities are supported with this in mind. The 3D engine's default view switches between first-person and third person, depending on the situation. Much of the action takes place in the wide open spaces inside the mammoth space station, with no level breaks or load times as the player moves from one place to another.

Some of the basic themes and plot points in Halo may be familiar to gamers who have played Marathon, Bungie's successful first-person shooter which was released in 1992 for the Macintosh platform. Among other elements, Marathon is known for intelligent level design and a deep, intriguing story. Though Halo should not be considered a sequel to Marathon, the two share common plot elements and have related back-stories. Initial development of Halo was done simultaneously for the Macintosh, the PC, and the Xbox. ~ T.J. Deci, All Game Guide

Cons:   Halo isnt one of those games that comes along that often, it combines thrill, fun, and excitement into a little green box. Based 500 years in the future halo is more of a science fiction novel than a video game, you battle an evil alien race in a fight for the existance of humanity. Everything from the graphics to the story line are out of this world, this game is what X-Box was made for; if you dont have this game you dont deserve to have X-Box, its a definate must have for anyone looking for an addicting 1st person shooter.

Cons:   Halo....The name you will be saying for years until Halo 2 arrives next year. This game is simply awesome. The intro of the game will make you push reset on the Xbox unit to just watch the opening intro movie again because it is that spectacular( I am not kidding). This game is that amazing. This is a must if you are planning to purchase an Xbox this November. The Graphics is the best I have ever seen in a first person shooter game. Honestly I do not even like FPS games but this game has change my mind so much that I am in love with FPS games now...especially Halo. The weapons and levels are awesome and huge. There is even a multiplayer option that puts you or 16 players against the computer or your friends. The replay Value will have you playing this game over and over again. You will even call in to work sick. You will miss sleep and if you do decide to go to work you will be thinking about getting home to play Halo. The framrate never drops. It is 60frames per second all the time even when there are about 20 different things going on at one time. The sound will make you think you are actually there. It really puts the player into the action and theme of the game. The controller works very well with the Xbox...This game is worth a $50 dollars purchased. This game will maybe if not be the Game of the year...watch out Metal Gear Solid:Sons of Liberty....Halo just stepped in and say Hello Halo

Cons:   This game is the best first person shooter of the year today,I didnt really like the FPS before, but ever since i seen the trailer of this game,I thought...,damn this game looks freakin awesome!so the day i got it,I was amazed how good everything was on this game.Everything looks, sounds, interacts, and responds so realistic! You can play on ten different sections(levels) on the alien home world,Halo and play up to four different levels of difficulty...Easy,Normal,Heroic(hard),and Legendary,(very damn hard)for example, each difficulty you highlight it will tell you what its like in a very detailed way ex.Legendary will say,You face opponets who have never known defeat, who laugh in alien tounges at your efforts to survive. This is suicide. The storyline is kinda hard to unerstand at first but if you beat it a couple of times, youll understand it.Controlling the Mastercheif(the person you play as) is very hard at first but after you beat the game youll get used to the controller and targeting will be a breeze.Multi-player is very fun, there are three ways that you can go on multi-player,Coopertive play(two Mastercheifs against them on campaign mode),Split Screen(2-4 players all against each other,or teams)and System Link Play,go up to 2-16 players online at once in one of the 13 different multi-player worlds to chose from, and there are various different ways to to play multi-player,such as Slayer,King of the Hill,Capture the Flag,Oddball, and Race.My two favorites are Slayer and CTF.Slayer is like an all out war of everyone against each other. You can also edit and create your own multi-player games but,not the levels, and the cool thing about creating one is you can do just about any thing you can think of when your making it!There is also a numerous variety of Human and Covanant(the enemy) wepons and vehicles to chose from. The Humans have an M9 HE-DP Grenade,M6D Pistol w/explosive rounds,MA5B Assault Rifle the clip holds 60 rounds, this is a fully automatic firing wepon,M90 Shotgun(a freakin 8 gauge shotgun that holds 12 rounds in the gun!),S2 AM Sniper Rifle w/14.5mm armor peircing fin-stabolized discarding sabot rounds(in other words...A BIG ASS MAGIC BULLET!),a double barrel M 19 SSM Rocket Launcher w/102mm rockets,an M41 LAAG Gatling Gun it fires 450 to 550 12.7mm armor penetrating rounds per minute.Covanant have a fully automatic Plasma Rifle,a semi-auto Plasma Pistol,a fully or semi-auto Nedler, this wepon has 20 long ass explosive spikes that are on the top of the gun that when you fire it will home in and chase the target and stab inside the body of target and if enough of these needles are in the body shooting the gun fully auto-matic it will cause the target to explode 3 times!(very efective and messy),a stationary Gun a.k.a. Shade, and a Plasma Grenade that can stick on enimies, soliders, and vehicles. Also whenever you kill any one of the Covanant you can take their wepons and grenades.Note:you can only carry two wepons at once and four Human and Covanant grenades, youll sometimes have to swap out one of your gun for another one on certain situations, you dont have to swap it out,no one is gonna force you but,im just saying that itll make that certain situation easyer.....Ill give this Game a 12 out of a perfect 10,this is a must have kind of game!

Pros:

Cons:   It is simply the best game I've ever played. Bar none, hands down, easily the best game I've ever played. Not to mention the replay value of being able to play it online through the X-Box's ethernet card. Some people say it is too short, play this game on "Legendary" rating and I'll be amazed if you can get half way through the game without using the Co-op (which is another reason the game is great, you can do missions with a friend) to get through any of it. The banter of your fellow troops in your squad cracks me up.

Sound - 10

Cons:   Graphics are beautiful , gameplay incredible, controls are right on. Although this is not a new concept it has never been done this good. From the moment you exit the Cryo tube you become immersed in a gorgeous 3-D world. The aliens are smart, your team is even smarter. It doesnt get any better than Halo.

Cons:   This game has many great qualities. The soundtrack is awesome. Especially the singing monks at the beginning. The Graphics are tops, down to the very last wrinkle. I spent hours playing it, and I know most about each level. I bought the X-Box for mainly this game. I give it 6 out of 5 stars.
